Faced with such discrimination, many sought refuge in Christianity as a means of liberation from the shackles of untouchability.

At the peak of this injustice, approximately 90% of Maradu’s land was under the control of a select group of landlords, perpetuating socio-economic disparities. However, following the implementation of progressive reforms by the Kerala Government post-Independence, significant strides were made towards eradicating untouchability.
