KSRTC has presented a report to the Transport Minister detailing the finances related to electric buses in Thiruvananthapuram city. Expressing dissatisfaction, the minister conveyed displeasure to officials due to the premature disclosure of the report to the media. Minister KB Ganesh Kumar will review the report and decide on subsequent actions concerning electric buses.
In the absence of CMD Biju Prabhakar, Joint MD Pramoj Shankar handed the report to the minister during his visit to Sydney. The minister reprimanded officials for allowing the report to be leaked to the media before his review and has sought an explanation from them.
The report indicates a profit of Rs 2.89 crore generated by e-buses over the last 9 months. Following the minister’s statement that electric buses are no longer required, KSRTC has halted the tender process for 45 electric buses.
While the meeting primarily focused on bus routes in KSRTC depots, the electric bus controversy also surfaced during discussions.
