Chokramudi Peak, a beloved destination for trekkers, is nestled between Bison Valley and Munnar, making it one of the highest peaks in the Munnar region. With an elevation of approximately 7,200 ft within the confines of Eravikulam National Park, this solitary peak stands apart from other hill ranges. Despite its secluded location, the journey to Chokramudi Peak is rewarding, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
From this vantage point, trekkers can enjoy a panoramic sight of Anamudi Peak and the nearby Idukki Dam. Well-defined trails lead to the summit, with the initial stretch suitable for beginners. As the ascent progresses, the terrain becomes rocky, especially leading to the top of the first peak, Kurisumala.
Chokramudi Peak is situated within the grounds of Eravikulam National Park, surrounded by lush evergreen Shola forests. This area is a habitat for some of the most unique flora and fauna found in the Nilgiris, including the elusive tahrs. Location Of Chokramudi Peak
Chokramudi is accessible from Munnar through Devikulam. The trekking base camp for Chokramudi is located on the right side along Gap Road, after reaching Chinnakanal Road. The entry fee is Rs 400 for domestic tourists and Rs 600 for foreign tourists per person. Another option for scaling Chokramudi Peak is from Pothamedu, near Munnar.
